We celebrated 40 years of the Waimate Strawberry Fare at the 2024 Fare, starting with just a handful of stalls at Butlers Berry Farm in 1984 , the fare has now grown to cover two parks in the centre of Waimate with over 280 stalls.

Strawberries have been grown in the Waimate District since 1880, they were and still are an important contribution to the Waimate economy. 

The fare today is hailed as one of the largest annual regional events. Held on the second  Saturday of December each year and attracting over 14,000 visitors from all over New Zealand.  

Waimate Strawberry Fare is a Free Family day out . Offering entertainment, upmarket stalls, a wide selection of food and of course Waimate Strawberries.
